Summary

As a Registered Nurse Level IV, you will leverage your clinical expertise and leadership skills to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to fellow team members, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of care on the unit.

The Acute General Medicine unit (4800) at Rochester General Hospital cares for complex medicinal and telemetry patients and the designated COVID of the hospital. It is a 37-bed unit that cares for patients with complex, acute medical conditions. Diagnoses on this unit are primarily medical, but the unit cares for a variety of medical conditions, such as complex behavioral patients who are not medically cleared to go to the inpatient psychiatric unit with multiple underlying complex medical conditions. The unit cares for the complex medical conditions of patients residing in group homes, such as Down’s syndrome and traumatic brain injury. Complex patients with drug and alcohol withdrawal are cared for on this unit and scored according to the CIWA protocol until stable and are discharged to drug rehabilitation facilities. Other complex medical patients, such as those with Peritoneal dialysis and those awaiting hospice on Palliative care, are admitted to this unit. The unit cares for complex respiratory patients with chronic trachs and those on CPAP/BiPAP, and it is equipped to provide high-flow oxygen when necessary. Complex wound care patients and those with wound vacs have enhanced the team's wound care and pressure ulcer prevention abilities. The nurses have developed robust skills and knowledge in caring for complex medical patients with diverse needs.

This role is part of the Registered Nurse Level IV / Clinical Nurse IV must complete the following:

  • Complete the Clinical Ladder binder within 12 months of employment
  • Minimum of 5 activities in each Pillar (Leadership, Quality, and Organizational Contribution)
  • 15 Continuing education units (CEU's)
  • 20 Flex items

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital (RGH)

DEPARTMENT: Acute General Medicine Unit (4800)

SCHEDULE: Day/Evening/Night - Every other weekend / holiday

Desired Attributes

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care & Service. Promote and restore patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; performing various treatment procedures; providing physical, educational and emotional support to patients, friends and families; supervising assigned team members
  • Planning & Communication. Develop and document individualized care plans customized for each patient’s unique needs, with support from the interdisciplinary health team as needed; maintain effective communication to convey patient health status, treatment plans and progress
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) Management. Demonstrate proficient use of an EHR – including accurate patient and provider documentation and communication
  • Compliance. Adhere to required department and system protocols, regulations (local, state, federal) and education requirements

BS: Nursing (Required)

Licenses / Certifications

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA), RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

Physical Requirements

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
